Chandelier Over Tub
If you own a small bathroom with a little space, or even just the single small bathroom in your home that needs some extra light, then a chandelier above your tub may be exactly what you want. The aesthetic benefit of using a chandelier above your tub is two fold. First off, it adds an entirely different look to your small bathroom and by “adding” the lighting to the area, it makes your small bathroom seem more spacious and welcoming. Also, when you are soaking in the tub, you don’t want to trip over any wires or hang anything on the tile or wall because it will fall and get caught under the lights, potentially damaging it.
Most of the chandelier designs available today are either LED, halogen, or fluorescent. While there are some older styles that use old fashioned crystal and glass bulbs, most modern chandeliers are made of high tech materials such as halogen, LED, and fluorescent. These types of bulbs are very bright and last for many years without changing color like incandescent bulbs. Additionally, they use less energy, which is important if you are using a small electric heater for your tub. Some chandeliers even offer motion sensor controls so that your chandelier will turn on based on whether someone walks in front of the door, which can be helpful if you like to go into the tub while you’re in the shower or on the toilet.
Another nice thing about modern chandeliers is that many of them offer multiple outlets. This means that if you are using an air conditioner, and it gets too hot in the summer, you can plug in several different appliances to provide additional light. Many older tubs only had one outlet, so you had to either drain the water out and plug several different appliances back in or risk burning your hand by touching the outlet. With more contemporary styles, you can choose to have three outlets, providing enough light to make it through the day, but not so much that you’ll be trying to hang anything on the ceiling above. Most people would never notice if there was not enough lighting, anyway. If you do want to make sure that you have adequate lighting for when you take a shower or bath in the evening, however, you may want to opt for a chandelier that offers some color, instead of just the standard white.
