Chandelier Crystals

Chandelier crystals are a beautiful and popular form of art and design. Each piece has its own story to tell. You may like the chandelier that hangs from your ceiling but you may not know how it came there in the first place. What many people fail to realize is that a chandelier is actually a piece of art with multiple levels of functionality.

All chandelier crystals are made from glass. But the glass used to make chandelier crystals is completely different from the clear glass in your drinking glasses, coffee pots, eyeglass frames and on your windows. This means crystal chandelier is more sparkly, shines more brightly and is also more prismatic. This allows the light to reflect off each level in the fixture as well as making it look like a colorful waterfall. This type of lighting fixture has been around for centuries and has remained a fixture in many homes and commercial buildings.

Some chandelier crystals are produced using the same process as champagne glasses. Instead of lead oxide, crystal lamps are used and then the lamp flame is lit through the inside of the glasses. The result? Just as clear glass is infused with color, so are the chandelier crystals. Each crystal is made of glass, just like the rest of us, but some are made with lead oxide in order to create a sparkle effect as they shine.
