A chandelier quilt is a great idea for a beginner to learn how to quilt. I would however caution you that most people who are completely new to the art of piecing together small pieces of fabric, will not complete this project. There is plenty of time to be gained by piecing together larger pieces first. The chandelier quilt pattern is easy to complete and if you have experience with basic sewing then you can complete the project without having to take much time out of your day.
A charm is used as a key to open the door to a special piece of furniture. Most chandelier quilts that I have seen use beads or other small pieces of fabric as the charms. Once the door is opened, the charm hangs on the door. You have a choice of picking one that suits your needs best. The materials needed to make one of these charming gifts is minimal. If you want to make a dozen of them, you only need about 200 meters of fabric and four to five beads depending on the size of the charms you choose.
Before you begin, you should decide on what kind of design you want to make. The charm school will give you all the information you need and once you have selected the design you should be able to download a free charm making template from their website. Once you have downloaded your template, all you need to do is cut the fabric into the required lengths. Then all you need to do is gather up the four to five different beads and your chandelier quilt should be completed.
